I chose these 3 articles as introduction to explain what cyberwar fare means. Informed by these three articles, cyberwarfare, is a hybrid form of warfare and considered as the fifth domain of warfare: After land, sea air, and space, the internet is the most recent domain to conducting warfare. The internet was designed for convenience and reliability, not security, cyberattacks are conducted in the “grey zone”, thus increasing ambiguity and decreasing accountability. Cyberweapons are (extremely) affordable, and may be employed by governments, or worse (in theory) terrorists, hackers, and other entities. The main aim of cyberwarfare is not only to intrude on networks and steal information, but to cause manipulation and disruption, as well as massive financial damage to the target. That being said, an attacker may target governmental institutions, civilian infrastructures, financial institutions or other, henceforth the aim may be political, criminal, or economical.
